The article contains five fun activities that you can do with your kids to teach and entertain them at the same time.
Holidays and day-offs can be troubling if you live with a hyperactive kid. All your kids’ energy might be wasted in destroying the house, trouble you when you are trying to do the chores, even fighting with the neighbour kids, or even worse- playing violent online games and watching over-the-edge sensuous shows on the television.
It is not the kids’ mistake if they do not have anything good and interesting to do. As a parent/guardian, it’s your job to provide interesting stuff to your kid and let them learn great things through it.
Here are five art activities that you can do with minimum tools and maximum interest:
1) Marble Art Tiles
Marble Art Tiles can be used as festival decorations, Christmas gifts, housewarming gifts, in-house decorations or even just a fun art projects for kids. The requirements are Permanent markers, white glossy tiles, Alcohol (91% or 70%), Lighter.
Give your kids a white glossy tile and ask them to draw on it with different permanent markers. Drawing anything might suffice as the ink’s going to spread into beautiful patterns. Once your kids are done drawing, pour alcohol over the design. Alcohol should be 91% or 70%, 91% is easily available in general pharma shops. After pouring the alcohol, light it using the lighter and observe the beautiful design. You can ask your kid to do all this, but only under adult supervision as this involves the risk of fire.
2) Faux Stained Glass Suncatcher
Suncatchers have always been famous among kids as suncatchers are interesting to look at, have variable colors, and look beautiful without much ado. Requirements: Ink-jet Transparencies, Double-sided tape, cardstock or hard papers, markers of different colours, general stationery.
Cut the ink-jet in whatever size you want it to be. Keep the smooth side up and fix it temporarily. Draw intersecting lines over the smooth side using a ruler and a black marker. Turn the ink-jet to the rough side and color the sections inside the intersections with different colors. Cut out a frame from the cardstock and paste it at the periphery of the ink-jet using double-sided tape. Hang it on your window.
3) Crumpled Paper Art
This is so simple yet so beautiful. You’ll need construction papers, watercolors, a paper cutter and a paintbrush.
You need to cut out construction papers in equal or unequal pieces according to your requirements. Crush the pieces and color them with any one color. Let it soak, press it gently and open it. Now, when the color has dried, crumble it again and paint it with another color. Open it up and let it dry again. You can use these beautiful templates for letters, invitations, write-ups or any other kind of art.
4) Spin Rock Art
This is yet again a beautiful decorative piece and a fun activity for kids. Just collect some rocks from the beach or anywhere else (the smoother the better). Wash them and put them in a Salad-spinner. Put some colors over the spinner (any colors, but color pastes that come in a tube are the best). After this, spin the salad spinner and you’ll see beautiful colors over the rocks.
5) Bubble Paintings with Bubble Blowers
This is also a simple, messy yet interesting exercise that gives rise to beautiful art. You’ll need Bubble soap, paper cups, food colors, a Bubble wand and a paper sheet. Fill some paper cups with Bubble soap (one for each color) and add food color to it (again one color in each cup). Gently stir it up. Now, dip your Bubble wand into the mixture and blow up bubbles over the paper sheet. You’ll see different circular patterns forming over the paper sheet. Continue doing so till you have a satisfactory modern art masterpiece!
To conclude, engaging your kids and yourself with fun and creative activities is a boon for the mind and calms your soul, not to mention it also makes you more happy and creative.
These are just some simple and creative activities that come in handy in stressful situations. There are many more activities and you can even make some of your own!
